About Sandbar
Anyone who has planned an Outer Banks beach week knows the drill: a dozen browser tabs, one for each rental company, re-entering the same dates on every site, one week at a time — then trying to remember whether that six-bedroom in Duck was cheaper than the one in Corolla, and whether either price included the fees.
The houses are wonderful. The local companies that manage them are wonderful. The searching is not. Sandbar exists to fix exactly that one thing: one search across local Outer Banks rental companies, real weeks and real prices side by side, and every result booked directly with the company that manages the home.
"No single site that consolidates all of the options."— the most-cited frustration, in a renter's own words
What we believe
Book direct, always
The rental company keeps the booking, the guest relationship, and the revenue. Renters get the company's own price and a local team behind their stay. Sandbar is a search engine, never a middleman.
Honest prices
A price should say what it includes. Sandbar labels every rate — base rent vs. all-in — exactly as the company presents it, so you can compare without surprises.
Permission, not scraping
We work with rental companies, not around them. Sandbar doesn't crawl around anyone's terms of service, and any company that prefers not to be listed is removed — no questions asked.
Local first
The big booking platforms treat the Outer Banks like anywhere else. The local companies know these beaches, these houses, and these weeks — Sandbar is built to make them easier to find, not to replace them.
Why I built this
Sandbar started the way most useful things do — with personal frustration. I'm a vacationer, not a rental company: I've spent the evenings clicking through site after site, re-entering the same week, trying to hold a dozen prices in my head. So I asked 93 other beach-house renters if it was just me. It wasn't — the most common complaint, almost word for word, was that no single site puts all the options in one place. So I built the site I wanted to use.
— Chris, founder
Independent, by design
Sandbar is independently built and owned — it isn't owned by, or affiliated with, any rental company or booking platform. That independence is what makes an honest side-by-side comparison possible.
